Pestel January 2012

Hello everyone,

Happy New year!

I want to start out on a good note and share with you some emails from PAP.  You'll recall that I've had the joy of interacting with a couple of orphanages in particular:  St. Joseph's Home for Boys and their 'sister' orphanage, Wings of Hope (for disabled children).  Two years ago (Jan 12) the buildings were destroyed and the kids were moved to different, temporary buildings.

The work on the New St. Joseph's Home is well-underway and you can see more about it here:

You will also see a link for "Belinda".  I emailed about this last year.  This was the little girl from Wings of Hope that died while her caregivers went from hospital to hospital, trying to find care.

I also really enjoyed this article in the Star Phoenix:.

Bill Nathan, mentioned in the article, is now one of the leaders of the St. Joseph's Home.

The construction on Wings of Hope has not yet begun as they are still in the process of fund-raising.  The children are staying with their (fantastic!) caretakers in a rented building for now. I've seen the plans for the new orphanage and they look wonderful!!

Ben
